    HYROX WARSAW

PGE NARODOWY, al. Księcia J. Poniatowskiego 1, 03-901 Warsaw

TL;DR — RACE WEEKEND GAME PLAN

    1. 1.Stay in Powiśle if you want the best all-round HYROX weekend; Barceló Warsaw Powiśle is the sweet spot.
    2. 2.Use Chopin Airport, not Modlin, unless the flight saving is genuinely worth the longer transfer.
    3. 3.Do not drive to PGE unless you absolutely have to. Use metro/train.
    4. 4.Book a hotel breakfast or eat in Powiśle; stadium-edge breakfast certainty is weaker than you want on race day.
    5. 5.Shake out in Skaryszewski Park or on the Vistula Boulevards.
    6. 6.Wear layers to the venue; mid-April mornings can be cold even if the arena feels warm later.
    7. 7.Treat Warsaw as PB-capable, not guaranteed PB. Good conditions, but Major crowds can change the equation.
    8. 8.Pre-book recovery if you care about it. Physiomed, OMNI, and Studio Sante are your best current options.
    9. 9.Do your supermarket run before Sunday and carry your own race-weekend essentials.
    10. 10.Biggest avoidable mistake: getting swept into the Major atmosphere and racing the first 2 km like an idiot.

QUICK TAKE — IS THIS A GOOD DESTINATION?

    VERDICT: YES

Yes. Warsaw is a very good HYROX destination for first-timers, competitive age-groupers, elites, and spectators. The big wins: central stadium, cheap-and-good public transport, direct rail from Chopin Airport, and a city that is usually cooler in mid-April than many western European race weekends.

⚠️ Caveat: This is a HYROX Major, so the field quality and crowd energy will be high, which is great for atmosphere but can raise race-morning stress if you're sloppy with timing. Sunday retail restrictions in Poland mean grocery shopping needs to happen on Saturday.

    Stress Factor4/10

Big-city major, but the ops are clean: one central venue, strong rail/metro links, cheap tickets, and very little need for a car. The stress usually comes from crowds and event timing, not from the city itself.

    PB Likelihood7/10

Cool April weather, flat city, easy airport transfer, and a huge stadium setup are PB-friendly. Docking points because Major weekends bring bigger fields, which can mean more congestion around check-in, warm-up, and some stations depending on your wave.

    FAST COURSE?

The venue has the ingredients for speed, and Warsaw 2025 produced sharp front-end results, but whether it is 'fast-fast' for the average athlete depends on the final floor plan, wave density, and how cleanly stations flow.

CITY VIBE — WHAT ATHLETES NEED TO KNOW

Warsaw is a spread-but-manageable capital: safe by big-city standards, walkable in the core, and excellent on public transport. The tourist office pushes walking plus public transport as the best way to move around, and the city markets itself as one of Europe's safer capitals.

    TYPICAL WEEKEND COSTS

    75-minute transport ticket4.40 zł
    24-hour transport ticket15 zł
    72-hour transport ticket36 zł
    Budget meal~30–50 zł
    Mid-range dinner for two~150–250 zł

Polish złoty (PLN). Polish is the local language. Cards are widely accepted across shops and services. Generally better value than London/Paris/Amsterdam for hotels, food, and local transport.

    BEST BASE NEIGHBOURHOODS

    Powiśle

Best for: All-round athletes. Best mix of food, coffee, river walk, and manageable access to the stadium.

    Saska Kępa / Kamionek

Best for: Low-stress venue access. Calmer than the city core, café life along Francuska Street.

Śródmieście / Nowy Świat / Centrum

Best for: Transport reliability. Easy metro, rail, and city-centre hotel stock.

    Praga-Północ / Koneser

Best for: Value + character. More edge, more authenticity, usually better value than prime centre.

    VENUE & LOCATION ANALYSIS

    PGE NARODOWY

    al. Księcia J. Poniatowskiego 1, 03-901 Warsaw

PGE NARODOWY sits just east of central Warsaw near the Vistula. Key access nodes are Stadion Narodowy metro, Warszawa Stadion rail, and Rondo Waszyngtona for trams and buses. Big-event stadium zone with strong transport and good river access.

    NEAREST STATIONS

    • Stadion Narodowy (Metro)M2
    • Warszawa Stadion (Rail)Regional rail
    • Rondo WaszyngtonaTrams and buses

    WALKABILITY

    8/10

If you stay in Powiśle, Saska Kępa, or close-in Praga, the venue is very manageable on foot. Deeper in the commercial centre or farther west, public transport becomes the smarter race-morning play.

    WHAT'S OPEN EARLY

    • Hotel breakfast or Powiśle cafés are the safest early fuel options
    • Elektrownia Powiśle includes breakfast/coffee options near the metro
    • Stadium perimeter is more "event infrastructure" than breakfast district
    • Do not rely on Sunday grocery shopping — Poland has broad Sunday retail restrictions

    🏃 RACE MORNING PLAN

Leave 60–75 min before your required check-in if you're on metro/train and already staying central. Leave 75–90 min before if you're using bus, taxi, or crossing the city from farther out. Least-stress approach: metro or rail into Stadion Narodowy / Warszawa Stadion, then a short walk.

    ⚠️ MISTAKES TO AVOID

    • Driving to PGE and assuming parking/road access will be easy — PGE advises public transport for major events.
    • Booking too far out and relying on taxis only.
    • Assuming Sunday grocery shopping will be normal — Poland still has broad Sunday retail restrictions.
    • Underdressing for the morning queue — mid-April in Warsaw can still be cold.
    • Letting the Major atmosphere drag you into a stupid first 2 km.

    TRANSPORT LINKS

BEST AIRPORT: WARSAW CHOPIN AIRPORT (WAW)

The easy call. Closer to the city and venue than Modlin, with a direct rail link and short taxi times. About 12 km from the venue area.

    Warsaw Chopin Airport (WAW)

Direct rail link, short taxi times. About 12 km from the venue area.

Time to venue: ~16 min taxi / ~28–33 min train

    Warsaw Modlin Airport (WMI)

Budget-airline friendly but longer. About 40 km from the city. Bus to central Warsaw ~58 min before onward transfer.

    Time to venue: ~51 min ride-hail / ~58 min bus + onward

Warsaw Chopin (WAW) → PGE Narodowy

CheapestBus into Warsaw + onward transfer~58 min + transfer| Bus fare

    Central Warsaw → PGE Narodowy

Best optionMetro to Stadion Narodowy or rail to Warszawa Stadion + walk~10–20 min| City fare

    PUBLIC TRANSPORT TIPS

    • Warsaw public transport is strong and athlete-friendly.
    • 75-minute ticket: 4.40 zł, 24-hour: 15 zł, 72-hour: 36 zł.
    • Buy tickets at machines, many buses/trams, passenger service points, or on mobile.
    • Validate properly — "I bought it" does not equal "I activated it."
    • Stadion Narodowy metro and Warszawa Stadion rail are the key venue nodes.

    🚕 Taxi / Bolt

Official airport taxi: Chopin recommends ELE Taxi. Bolt operates at WAW and in Warsaw. Surge risk is real around big-event finish windows and stadium egress.

    🚗 Driving

Possible, not smart. PGE and local transport sources repeatedly advise public transport over driving for major events because roads can close and tram/bus routes can change around the stadium.

    RACE STRATEGY

    VENUE

This is a huge central stadium venue used for major events, with strong transit access and a HYROX Major-level crowd profile. The exact 2026 course map is not published.

    COURSE FLOW

Standard HYROX: 8 x 1 km runs + 8 workout stations. Exact station placement inside the stadium is not yet confirmed. Expect a large indoor setup with Major-level production.

    RUN SURFACE

Expect a hard, indoor event surface typical of major HYROX setups rather than anything forgiving. Exact flooring mix is still unknown.

    HEAT

Outdoor weather is not the main issue. Arena heat, queueing, and adrenaline are the bigger problems, especially if you over-layer for the cold start and then cook once inside.

    ELEVATION

Warsaw is basically a flat race city. Any elevation stress is more about stadium approaches, bridge ramps, and walking in from transport nodes than about the race course itself.

    ⚠️ WHERE PEOPLE BLOW UP

First 2 km because the crowd and Major vibe make everyone feel 10% fitter than they are. Sled push/pull if grip, shoes, and pacing are off. Lunges + wall balls if you've been redlining since SkiErg. Fix: start one gear lower than the room energy suggests, treat the first run as a setup lap, stay cold-headed through sleds, fuel early.

    STUDIO SANTE URBAN SPA

    Pied-de-Poule / Fizjo4Health

Central-city appointments, 15–20 min from venue. Reserve ahead for race weekend.

    WEATHER STRATEGY

    APRIL CONDITIONS

Mid-April in Warsaw is usually cool: daytime highs around the low teens °C and cold mornings/nights. Think roughly 3–13°C territory rather than spring-summer comfort.

    • Travel / warm-up: light jacket, track pants, removable top layer, dry socks.
    • Race kit: normal indoor race kit, but bring throwaway layers for queueing.
    • Post-race: dry top, slides, compression socks.

    💧 Hydration

You probably won't need hot-weather sodium loading outdoors. You still want electrolytes because indoor effort + nerves + travel dehydration can still hit.

    🏟️ Indoor vs Outdoor

Outdoors: queueing and walking in can feel chilly. Indoors: once you're racing, you'll heat fast.

    SHAKEOUT RUN ROUTES

    SKARYSZEWSKI PARK EASY LOOP (5KM)

Already hosts parkrun Warszawa-Praga on a 5 km hard-surface course every Saturday at 09:00. Mostly hard/paved, runner-friendly, wide paths. Best low-stress shakeout option near the venue.

    🏃 Parkrun

parkrun Warszawa-Praga, Skaryszewski Park, Saturday 09:00. Alternative: Vistula Boulevards for a straight out-and-back with zero navigation.

    🏟️ Track Access

Stadion Podskarbińska, Chrzanowskiego 23 — reported as available to individual users during opening hours.

Mostly hard/paved park paths. Strong for daylight shakeout. Toilets/water easiest via hotel/venue-area cafés before or after. Start hydrated.

    Cardio, free weights, functional areas.
